Yeabu Josephine Tholley is a Senior Statistician and head of the ME&T Department at Statistics Sierra Leone (Stats SL). She joined Stats SL in March 2008. She was a Senior Lecturer teaching Mathematics, Statistics and involved in research work at the Milton Margai College of Education and Technology for 8 years. Prior to that she taught at the Freetown Secondary School for Girls for 11 years, six of those years she spent as Head of Mathematics Department in the school. She worked as a Regional Manager in the Stats SL Regional office in Bombali district and also as a Statistician in the Tonkolili district. She has also worked as a Statistician in three Line ministries, Ministries of Education, Science and Technology, Health and Sanitation and Tourism and Aviation and at Headquarters in both the Demographic Health and Social Statistics and Economics Statistics Divisions.

She is a member of the Stats SL Management Team. She Participated as Trainer/Technical Coordinator in the 2015 Population and Housing Census.She has also participated as Trainer/Coordinator/Secondary Editor/Report Writer in many Surveys and research exercises. These included the Sierra Leone Behavioural Surveillance Survey HIV/AIDS , 2013 Sierra Leone Demographic and Health Survey , Sierra Leone Malaria, Knowledge, Attitudes and Practices Household Survey, the Sierra Leone School Census, Convention For the Elimination of All Forms Of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW) Household Survey, the 2009 National Telecommunication (NATCOM) Assessment Survey and the Multiple Integrated Cluster Survey (MICS 4) etc. She is a member of the African Women's Development and Communication Network (FEMNET), the former National Secretary for the Forum for African Women Educationalist Sierra Leone Chapter, member of the Everywoman Everywhere Coalition, Group Mentor of The Cherie Blair Foundation for Women, Coordinator-Association of African Women for Research and Development(AAWORD)Sierra Leone Chapter and member of the Graduate Women International (GWI). 

Yeabu holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics/Chemistry and also a Master’s degree in Measurement and Evaluation from Njala University. She also holds Certificates in Project Management, Statistical Software packages including Excel, Access, EMIS, SPSS, STATA, CsPro etc , Measuring HIV/AIDS and Malaria and its Socio Economic Impacts, Measuring Progress: Statistics for MDG indicators- Poverty Analysis, at InWEnt Blended E- Learning, Germany, Crime Statistics, and Education Statistics etc. She has also done e _learning courses on Gender.

She developed the Statistics Sierra Leone 3rd &4th Tourism Bulletin Edition in 2012 & 2013. She also Co-developed a paper on Women ́s Empowerment through Formal and Non-Formal Education: Women’s World Congress in Hyderabad, India: An IFUW Panel-Workshop Combo published on December 2014. She Co-developed: The International Federation of University Women (IFUW), 2012 Human Rights Education Toolkit published on The International Federation of University Women (IFUW) website. She developed articles: Voices of Women: Addressing Violence Against Women in Rural Areas in Sierra Leone published on The African Women’s Journal Issue No. 05 July - December 2012; African Union (AU) Roundtable on the Fund for African Women Summary and Report on the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW), 55th Session New York, February 22nd -4th March 2011 published on March 11 & 25, 2011 respectively on The African Women’s Development and Communication Network (FEMNET) E- Bulletin.
