In a bid to enhance Sierra Leone's data collection capabilities, Stats SL in collaboration with UNICEF initiated a week-long workshop at the New Brookfields Hotel, Freetown, from 29th January to 2nd February 2024. The workshop aims to review the Multiple Indicator Cluster Survey Round 7 (MICS-7) questionnaire and explore its potential in refining data tools.
The MICS questionnaire plays a vital role in gathering essential data on the well-being of children and women. A comprehensive review of the questionnaire is to align with the evolving dynamics of society. Experts in health, education, and social welfare participated in intensive discussions to fine-tune the survey questions and reflect the current socio-economic landscape.
In attendance were statisticians, researchers, and experts from diverse disciplines, representing various stakeholder organizations, all convening to unravel the potential of refined data tools.
The week-long activity is expected not only to bolster Sierra Leone's statistical capabilities but also to foster enduring partnerships beyond the workshop.
