The head of Gender Statistics Section reports directly to the Director of Demography, Health and Social Statistics Division.

The key objective of this section at Stats SL is to integrate a gender perspective into statistics, working with all divisions to develop the production and use of quality gender statistics, through compiling, processing, analyzing, reporting and disseminating available data; disaggregating data by multiple dimensions beyond just sex but also through multiple levels in line with SDG 5. It will provide the availability of data to ensure proper mainstreaming of gender issues in all areas of official statistics; a basis through which transformation could be measured and assessed for policy-making and action.

The section seeks to work with and bring together producers and users of gender statistics from   key MDAs, city/district councils, international statistical offices, international organizations, academia, civil society and the donor community to ensure the regular review of the adequacy of the official statistical system and its coverage of gender issues.
