The Country Representative of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), Kunle Adeniyi, accompanied by the Chief Technical Adviser (CTA), Collins Opiyo, and a team of independent monitors, today engaged key stakeholders in the Hill Station community and embarked on a field monitoring exercise of the ongoing  2026 Mock Population and Housing Census household enumeration.

The visit formed part of UNFPA's continued commitment to supporting Statistics Sierra Leone (Stats SL) in delivering a credible, inclusive, and high-quality Population and Housing Census. It also sought to assess the progress of field operations, monitor adherence to established census procedures, and strengthen collaboration with community stakeholders to ensure the successful implementation of the Mock Census.

During the engagement, the delegation interacted with community leaders and residents to reinforce the importance of their participation and cooperation throughout the enumeration exercise. They also visited enumeration teams in the field, observed interviews, assessed data collection procedures, and provided guidance to field personnel to ensure compliance with operational standards and data quality requirements.

The monitoring exercise reaffirmed the strong partnership between UNFPA and Statistics Sierra Leone and underscored the shared commitment to ensuring that the 2026 Population and Housing Census is conducted in line with international best practices, producing reliable data that will support evidence-based planning and sustainable national development.
