Abdulai Salia Brima took up the job as Director of Censuses and Geographic information Systems in September, 2019.
Until his appointment by the Statistics Council of Sierra Leone, Abdulai was the Head of Department of Economics and Commerce, Fourah Bay College, University of Sierra Leone where he had lectured for 10years. He has a wealth of experience in field data collection, analysis and policy formulation.
He was a member of the research team in the design, conduct and analysis of Bridging the Gap Project (2015): Examining Disability and Development in Sierra Leone: a Poverty Alleviation call. A world class development research collaborated, for three years (2015-2018), by the Department of International Development (DFID), the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRD) in partnership with the University of Sierra Leone.
Abdulai has published academic papers in peer-reviewed journals including but not limited to; the International Journal of Economics and Financial Issues, International Journal of Business and Social Sciences etc. His recent publication – Barriers to E-commerce Adoption among SMEs in Sierra Leone: The moderating role of Geographic Location (2019), was published in International Journal of Sciences and Management Studies.
He studied Economics at the undergraduate level at Fourah Bay College, University of Leone, where he graduated with BSc (Honours) in Economics in 1996. In 2005, he successfully completed an MSc programme in Development Economics at the University of Manchester in the UK. Also, 2015 he graduated with MSc in Statistics from the Department of Mathematics and Statistics, Fourah Bay College with a distinction in dissertation. Since 2016, he is a registered PhD candidate in Statistics in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics, Fourah Bay College, University of Sierra Leone.
