World Statistics Day 2020 Campaign at Statistics Sierra Leone

Statistics Sierra Leone celebrated the third World Statistics Day on the 20 October 2020 with the theme “Connecting the world with data we can trust”. The 2020 World Statistics Day logo was designed with check mark blending into a bar chart whose data flows into the globe, with enclosed wsdelements in a full circle portraying overall sense of security The celebration is a global collaborative endeavor, organized under the guidance of the United Nations Statistical Commission (UNSC) of which the Statistician General of Statistics Sierra Leone Professor  Osman Sankoh (Mallam O) is the current rapporteur. National Statistical Offices (NSOs) around the globe are celebrating it with a theme that emphasizes the importance of trust, authoritative data, innovation and the public good in National Statistical Systems. Stats SL agenda will focus on the theme highlighting the role of statisticians, data scientists, politicians, experts from the business sector and civil society in the production of official statistics in achieving sustainable development goals, and in responding to the global pandemic. This year’s campaign on the theme will revolve around defining global key messages-Stats SL will coordinate activities at national level; with a campaign that specifically showcase how our work   has responded to the data revolution and the demand for innovative solutions to meet the data demands of sustainable development. Also reflected in this year’s theme, is promoting   outreach messages that amplify the statistical activities we engage in, our responsibilities in setting of statistical standards and the development of concepts and methods at national and international level.
