The following questionnaires for households and institutions have been designed and approved by Stats SL and the Census Technical Committee for the 2021 Mid-Term Population and Housing Census. The public is hereby invited to review the questionnaires and send comments to the National Census Coordinator by 5th February 2021. We will try as much as possible to address your comments. We thank you in advance for your support.

The questionnaires will be transferred onto electronic tablets so their format will be different from the paper format presented here for review purposes only. 2021 Mid-Term Population and Housing Census - Household Questionnaire [Word]
 Differences between the 2015 and 2021 Census Questionnaires  +  2021 Mid-Term Population and Housing Census - Institutional Questionnaire [Word]

Stats SL initially planned to implement the core of the 2015 Questionnaire without adding some of the sociology-economic indicators. However, after the Census Technical Committee’s review of the base questionnaire, it was unanimously agreed to use all the indicators of the 2015 questionnaire. The use of electronic tablets this time for data collection (CAPI) will make data capture faster. Hence implementing the full questionnaire will be possible.

There are however three main differences:

  1. The order of the mortality sections has been changed in 2021 so that a respondent will answer all questions about the loss of a loved one before proceeding to other sections;
  2. The questions on Disability have been expanded and now includes the Washington Group on Persons With Disabilities. This will enable more data on disability in Sierra Leone to be generated; and
  3. A module on COViD-19 has been added to replace the 2015 module on Ebola.

Please send all commments on the questionnaires below to:
